Chinese Foodies In Australia

The digital artefact which belong to Leya and me is about culture which is most about Chinese history and cooking culture.

We named it ‘Chinese foodies in Australia’.

We developed this project because we wanted to we hope sharing our useful experiences, insights of living and studying abroad for Chinese people who is interested in real Australian cultures and daily life. On the other hand, it can spread Chinese traditional culture and present situation to people who is interested in China.

Based on our research on market requirement and viewer preferences, we pulled off our plan of our DA by making video and we uploaded it to various video platforms—-Weibo and YouTube, because they are more animated an entertaining than other platform who just gave out information.

I thought this would be useful for international students. The reason is that most feedback from international students mentioned that they learned some cooking techniques from our videos.

Relatively speaking, our program is more popular in Sina Weibo(a Chinese micro-blogging website which is one of the most popular social media platforms in China). Some Chinese people felt the real experience of studying abroad which is offered in our program is intriguing and ingenious. We still have a part of bcm114 and UOW potential audiences. They have put forward many constructive ideas and proposals that further enriched our program and made it more comprehensive.

However, Leya will be going home to China at the end of the semester. Making video is a delicate task. I am afraid I can not complete it alone. Thus I will refocus our view to maintain our program by use Instagram. The Instagram account which we started after our first Pitch is something we are still kind of experimenting with. Our plan at the beginning was ‘besides those content we made ourselves, we will also sift, sort, arrange, and place other found content like simple recipes, cooking tips etc. into specific themes.’ The good news is it is slowly beginning to get better.

Does it fast? Yes! We do not have to spend a lot of time to editing and shooting after paying more attention to keep Instagram account. We can also use it to express our complete thoughts and it won’t take our audiences much time to watch.

Does it inexpensive? Sure. Life’s most valuable treasures are free. Like experience, happiness, and friendship which we obtained in our DA.

Does it simple? You can rest assured that the whole program has a friendly user interface, simple and practical operation. What matters most are the simple pleasures so abundant that well all can enjoy them. It may comes from smell of good which is made by ourselves. It may comes from strange but interesting exotic cultures. Actually, It’s easy to neglect the pleasure we get from living and being loved, the company of friends, the freedom to live where we please, even good health.

Does it tiny? It only takes up disk space and compilation time, and if loaded it also takes up precious panel space and memory. It can be a very subtle but powerful force.

In general, we will come to the end of this semester which we will cherish for a long day. I learned a valuable lesson and will act in a more constructive manner in the future. Lastly we are really thankful to all of great teachers and kindly audiences.
